Landell Mills awarded Asian Development Bank funded technical assistance project to support sustainable agriculture and food security in the Greater Mekong Subregion
Landell Mills is pleased to announce we have been awarded a new contract to provide knowledge and technical assistance as part of the 'Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program'. The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank and valued at 3.2M USD, will provide technical assistance to Ministries of Agriculture in the GMS countries and to the GMS Working Group on Agriculture based in Bangkok.
Landell Mills will work with a team of 29 consultants to help address strategic issues for fostering sub-regional cooperation in sustainable agriculture and food security, through conducting feasibility studies and pilot activities, and providing policy, advisory, and knowledge support. Berkeley Economic Advising and Research (BEAR) have been sub-contracted to provide support on food safety and quality standards, certification and traceability.
Outputs of the project relate to: strengthening climate-friendly, inclusive and gender-conscious agri-food value chains and agribusinesses; harmonizing crop and livestock safety and quality systems; and enhancing agriculture adaptation in the context of water-food-energy-climate nexus. Through these outputs, the project aims to create an environment that will enhance economic, social and environmental benefits to GMS stakeholders through access to markets and safer food products.
Landell Mills will achieve the outputs through: undertaking analysis of each theme including comprehensive stakeholder consultations and policy dialogues; developing pilot interventions on innovative technologies, climate-smart practices, and financing instruments; developing knowledge products related to the project outputs, for dissemination to all interested stakeholders and wider publication; and undertaking training of identified project stakeholders.
The project started in December 2020 and will continue until December 2023. More information can be found here.
