Landell Mills awarded new contract by the Asian Development Bank: Preparing the Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project
We are pleased to have recently been awarded a new contract by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Laos, titled Preparing the Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project.
The contract, which will run from January to September 2024, has an approximate value of $980,000 and involves preparing the Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project for ADB board and government approval.
The Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project, which will be implemented over six years, has a desired outcome to increase climate-resilient and gender-responsive nutritious food production and agrifood value addition. This is hoped be achieved through the implementation of four outputs:
- Output 1: Smallholder agriculture improved in a climate-resilient and nutrition-sensitive manner;
- Output 2: Commercial export-oriented agriculture improved in a climate-resilient manner;
- Output 3: Small-scale climate-resilient value chain infrastructure developed;
- Output 4: Food safety certification upgraded.
The project is expected to cost $50,000,000. As part of the project design, Landell Mills will aim to identify export-oriented agribusinesses and facilitate linkages with smallholders (via farmer groups) in an integrated cluster approach.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) will be the executing agency, while the MOIC (through its Department of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion), the Bank of Lao PDR, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will be the implementing agencies.
