Landell Mills awarded Tuvalu Coconut Rehabilitation – Technical Assistance contract
We’re pleased to announce that Landell Mills’ Agriculture, fisheries, food security and nutrition (AFN) division has recently been awarded the Tuvalu Coconut Rehabilitation – Technical Assistance contract by the European Commission.
This was our first request received and our first contract awarded through the new Services for EU’s External Action 2023 (SEA 2023) framework contract Lot 3, which delivers analysis, studies, and technical assistance and advice in the areas of food systems, sustainable agriculture, and nutrition. The contract began in May 2024 and will run until November 2026.
Due to the need to address key issues to unlock the economic, social, and environmental opportunities of the coconut industry in Tuvalu, the Market-Driven Plan to Rehabilitate the Tuvalu Coconut Industry was created.
To support the implementation of the Market-Driven Plan, the European Union signed a financing agreement with the Government of Tuvalu in May 2023. Part of this financing agreement provides Tuvalu with the funding for the complementary technical assistance that Landell Mills will provide through the Tuvalu Coconut Rehabilitation – Technical Assistance contract.
The objective of the contract is to contribute to improving the enabling environment and governance of the coconut sector in Tuvalu, in order to increase sustainable agricultural productivity and economic growth in Tuvalu. Specifically, the contract aims to support the Government of Tuvalu in the rehabilitation of the Tuvalu coconut industry, and the implementation of the Market-Driven Plan and the financing agreement.
