New contract win: Horticulture, Training, Gender and Social Development (HTGSD)
We are pleased to have been awarded the Horticulture, Training, Gender and Social Development (HTGSD) contract in Lesotho. This contract is part of the Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture Project, which is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The HTGSD contract will run for approximately five years, and has a budget of US$13.98m. We will implement the contract alongside our partners, NIRAS.
The contract has an aim to facilitate the development and implementation of irrigated horticulture production schemes at up to four sites in Lesotho. Landell Mills will provide services that support smallholder farmers to transition from dryland, mainly subsistence agriculture; to sustainable, irrigated, commercial horticulture. In addition, gender and youth considerations will be mainstreamed in the project’s design and implementation through the use of Gender Transformative Approach (GTA) frameworks and Gender Action Learning Systems (GALS). Overall, activities will include:
- the design and implementation of training and capacity-building activities.
- the development and facilitation of horticulture scheme governance structures.
- technical support for other scheme requirements.
