Strengthening business partnerships in Zanzibar
Last month, we were proud to support the successful delivery of the Zanzibar–EU Business Forum 2025, bringing together over 250 participants including policymakers, investors and business leaders from Zanzibar and Europe. The forum, officially opened by H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, provided a platform for meaningful public-private dialogue aimed at enhancing investment opportunities and fostering sustainable economic growth.
The theme of the Zanzibar–EU Business Forum 2025, Strengthening Zanzibar – European Union Partnership: A Public-Private Dialogue, underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector to drive strategic investments and policy improvements. Key discussions focused on:
- sustainable tourism: advancing responsible tourism while preserving Zanzibar’s unique heritage.
- ICT and digitalization: unlocking the potential of Zanzibar’s digital economy.
- fisheries and aquaculture: enhancing value addition and innovation in the sector.
- maritime logistics: strengthening port efficiency for trade growth.
- circular economy: promoting sustainable waste management practices.
- renewable energy: scaling up clean energy solutions.
- business environment and taxation: ensuring a conducive investment climate.
One of the forum’s highlights was the launch of the EU Investment in Zanzibar report, which offered key insights into emerging opportunities for European businesses. The event also facilitated valuable business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) engagements, fostering new connections and strategic partnerships.
The forum concluded with key commitments from both public and private sector stakeholders, outlining action points to drive sustainable economic development. As the implementing partner, we are excited to continue supporting these efforts and working closely with stakeholders to translate dialogue into tangible outcomes.
A huge thank you to our partners – Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority, the European Union and the European Business Group – for making the forum a resounding success.
