Pilot Regional Privatisation Project – Industrial Component (Gas Analysers & Other Products)
This study examined ANALITPRIBOR, the largest producer of gas analysis instrumentation within the Confederation of Independent States supplying the key industries such as gas and oil industry, ferrous metals industry, automotive industry and others. Its present share of the market at the time of the study was around 70%, but the disintegration of COMECON had reduced the exports to only 2-3% of the whole production capacity. The plant operated on the principle of self-sufficiency, subcontracting only a very small part of its assemblies and components. The total workforce numbered 3200 employees. The principal conclusions included:
Model Privatisation of St. Petersburg Agrarian University Experimental & Training Farm
As lead company of a Consortium of British Companies, Landell Mills Ltd, in cooperation with the St. Petersburg Agrarian University implemented the privatisation of a 1200 hectare farm and providing on-farm expertise to transform the farm into a viable commercial operation. Landell Mills Ltd secured the interest of a number of British companies and institutions in long-term investment.
The project increased women small business owners’ knowledge of employment issues (recruitment, employment incentives, training, and productivity) to help them hire new employees and contribute to the reduction of unemployment in Warminsko-Mazurskie.
