Technical Assistant to the Digital Transitioning Programme for Jamaica (Digital Jamaica)

About the project

The project will provide EU-funded technical assistance to support the Office of the Prime Minister to coordinate, administer and report on the implementation of the Digital Transitioning Programme for Jamaica (Digital Jamaica).

The objective of Digital Jamaica is to increase inclusive access to and use of ICT in Jamaica to support the country’s transitioning activities towards becoming a digital economy and society. It has three specific objectives. These are:

  1. To increase access to gender-responsive, accountable and effective digital skills and literacy products and services, especially for the vulnerable;
  2. To increase use of robust, affordable and secure broadband infrastructure for end users, businesses and the government, including last mile technology for poor remote communities;
  3. To promote the digital transformation of existing MSMEs and the growth of the technology sector.

The project is currently at pre-tender stage.

About the role(s)

We will be seeking to recruit one or more consultant experts with experience in one or more of:

  • Promotion of digital solutions within government to provide better public services;
  • Increasing access to and competency in the use of digital technologies in the education sector;
  • Technology adaptation by MSMEs and the digitalization of business development support services.

Prior experience of working within the Caribbean or of small island states, and familiarity with EU sector reform performance contracts is likely to be advantageous.

The post(s) may be full or part time, and may be short or long term.

The contract duration will be up to 32 months.
